Lady Fenella, ever surrounded by guards, knows only responsibility and duty. She believes Merlin and the Lady of the Lake are myths, Gran’s warnings about Fairy are superstition, and Fairy was invented to make children behave.

But then Gran brands her, Lord Argonshire kidnaps her, and the Lady of the Lake makes her a pawn. The Highland heiress must betray her newly betrothed and fend for herself when she dives into a wormhole to save her cousin. She lands in a part of Fairy even fairies avoid, and joins forces with a half-Viking/half-Fairy.

Fenella must use her wits to find her cousin, free the Lady of the Lake, and reach the wormhole in Glastonbury by Beltane. Nine days to unshackle herself from a sorceress, prevent a war between two clans, and decide in which realm—and with which lad—she truly belongs. Oh, and The Most Powerful Wizard stands in her way.

The Beltane Escape Book One The Two Realms Trilogy eBook Ariella Moon

This book was slow going for me. it's in the third person which I tend to not be drawn too. The dialog took some getting used to but in the end, it redeems itself and pulled me in to want to read the second story.

There is the love triangle forming and being torn between two realms. Which we find in many books but yet it's still a quick and fun read.

The lead, I struggled to connect with, but near the end I got her. Her misunderstanding of the fae and then her respect for them until she returns home. Then old ways seep in.

overall its a simple story of a girl finding herself and being drug into a fight that has nothing to do with her. It was a fun escape.

This book was great, it intertwined historical fiction and a magical realm full of myths.

The characters, images, and descriptive details are breathtakingly rich!

My favorite part is when Fenella's gran brands her and the description of the bum and the emotions Fenella experiences. It is a very important part of Fenella's life and will affect her forever.
The first thoughts that came to mind after reading The Beltane Escape is that this is a mix of a medieval Scottish fantasy and Alice in Wonderland. We start out with our main character, Fennela, with her Scottish brogue, as her home is quickly invaded by a rival clan and she's hauled off to become the betrothed of the third son of the nasty Lord Argonshire. But not before her Gran brands her with a burning iron rod.

Before any wedding bells can sound, she follows her younger cousin in a wormhole (or as I see it, the rabbit hole) and winds up in Fairy, where she meets all manner of creatures a brownie, a Norse man and pixies.

I really enjoyed Fenella's character. She's determined to do what's right for her clan, even if it means sacrificing her freedom. She is desperate to save her cousin, Sorley, and she will not be deterred from finding him. However, I do wish her character was a little older. She's only 14 and seems almost a bit too mature for that age. I just prefer my heroines to have a bit more life experience.

The story line for The Beltane Escape is fast-paced and melds the legends of Merlin and the Lady of the Lake along with all kinds of fairy creatures. The writing is nicely done and I even found myself reading Fanella's parts with a Scottish accent. And there are little to no grammatical problems that caused me to stumble.

My only complaint is that I would have liked to have seen more of Edward. He managed to endear himself to me within the few short chapters he made an appearance, and I almost wished he had fallen down the rabbit hole with her. But at least I have the lovely Talfryn to look at.

Item is as described and very reasonably priced. Will definitely order similar products in near future.
A fantastic, high paced read that grips you right from the beginning! Ariella Moon has such a great magical imagination, and it shows in her tale of a fantastical past. If you like Brave mixed with Arthurian legend, this is your next read for sure!
I fell in love with this book. Great writing.
As I finish this story, I am left eagerly looking for the next installment. Skillfully she intertwines a work of historical fiction and the magical realm in such a way that the reader will question if this work is fictional or in fact based on a true story. The characters and images are rich and full. It is evident Ms. Moon has carefully researched the time and customs to provide this dimension. The combination of mystery, romance, history, magical legend and friendship allow this book to appeal to readers of all ages.
I absolutely loved this book. It reminded me of a cross between "Brave" and "Alice and Wonderland. This book is fun and exciting and hard to put down. I especially loved the characters. Be ready to travel from one adventure to another. I hope book 2 comes out soon!
